Finding Him Friday & a Link Up!

Much of my time had recently been spent scrubbing my carpets. Nathan is at the age where he knows how to dump his sippy cup and he enjoys watching milk drip to the floor. So I follow close behind him cleaning up the messes and getting milk spots and juice spots out of my carpet.

And oddly enough, that's where I found Jesus today.

Next week, Camp begins, and I will teach and lead and counsel kids. The theme this year is "the Cross." As I was scrubbing stains out of my floor, I saw Christ and what was done on the Cross in my carpet. How, you ask? Well.... I mess up. A lot. I have always been a "good girl," but by no means does that make me "good." (Romans 3:23). I am clay that is rather stubborn sometimes when the Potter is trying to mold me. I fight back. Molding is painful. Shaping is uncomfortable. Change HURTS. So my rebellious spirit rises up and drops of sin stain my soul's floor. But though I am hard headed and allow little sins to take root in my life, God's grace and His love are still ever present. His blood removes the stains of my sin and, though His cleaning and scrubbing is painful for me, He has my best interest in mind. He wants me clean, free of spots....just as I want the floors of my home clean and spotless.

John 1:7
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son
cleanseth us from all sin."

Finding Him Friday & a Link Up!

I found Him in my pantry. Yes, that's right. My pantry.

A few days ago, I was shopping for groceries and as I walked down an aisle of only bread and pastries, I had an overwhelming sense of conviction and sadness. Why? Because here I am - so blessed to be living in the USA, with everything I could ever need or want at my fingertips. Here I am in a modern grocery store with every convenience at my reach. A whole aisle of bread and pastries! There's a whole aisle of chips and colas. In my kitchen, it's no different. I have a whole drawer in my fridge of produce. I have an entire shelf in my pantry devoted to spices and baking ingredients. Another shelf is full of snacks like crackers, cereal, peanut butter, and trail mix. Just this morning, as I was preparing to fix my little boy breakfast, I saw how many choices I had. I could cook pancakes....or muffins.....eggs...sausage. And that's where I found Him. I found His overwhelming blessing of food that I overlook and take for granted every day!

Did you know that more than one billion people in this world lack access to clean water?

Did you know that about 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes – a huge majority of them being children? That's one person every three and a half seconds.

Count your blessings, ladies. If you have food on your table, thank Him and praise Him for it. And when you find Him in your kitchen....bring Him to someone else who's hungry for Him. :)

Finding Him Friday & a Link Up!

Today I walked outside and did not feel the stifling heat that we have had lately. May has been unseasonably hot here in Arkansas. But I walked out my back door this first day of June to a pleasant 61 *F with a light breeze. And even in my moment of stress and headaches, I found Him there.

Ever feel like you are suffocating? Do you ever feel like you are dying of thirst? All you want is a gentle breeze to give you comfort or a drop of rain to ease the scorching pain. Yesterday we had our second storm in two days that did just that to our yard and garden. The ground was parched, cracked, and so very dry. Now it has been watered, refreshed, and it looks a lot better! Sometimes my soul needs that too. Some days, my heart is cracked and hurting. Some days, my well has run dry and I can't shed tears. It's on those days that I should lift my eyes to the hills (Psalm 121:1-2) and run to Jesus who is our thirst-quenching, water of life.

So I found Him today. I found Him in the calm, cool breeze which told me that that He is our comforter. I found Him in the puddles of leftover rain which reminded me that He makes my cup runneth over.

Where did you find Him today?

Finding Him Friday & a Link Up!

Today, I am joining the "link up" world and extending an open hand to fellow bloggers.

What is Finding Him Friday?

If you are like me, then you often find yourself lost in a mountain of daily tasks that demand your time and energy. And before you know it, a whole day has passed without spending time with Jesus. You know what I mean....

The alarm goes off. You jump up. You shower. You feed your family. You clean the kitchen. You make the beds. You hit the laundry. You teach your children. You run errands. You check your email and you blog (because, hey, you've got to have some ME time, right?). Nap time. Playtime. Bath time. Feeding. You cook supper. You spend time with your husband. You put the kids to bed. You polish off the last couple of things on your ever-growing To-Do list. And then you collapse onto your pillow.

No precious moments of intimacy. No wrestling prayer. No sitting at His feet. Not even a simple "thank You, Lord."  Too much Martha and not enough Mary. That's me.

So with that in mind, I introduce Finding Him Friday, where we take a moment to pause and find Him in the little things in our life; and praise Him for it.

Today, I am taking a moment to thank Jesus for my little boy. Each day, I am reminded of God's grace when I look into the face of my precious son. Through him, I am learning what it means to have childlike faith and trust. I find Jesus in the late hours of the night when I check on him in bed. I find the Lord when he looks at me and smiles that sweet, adorable, can't-match-it-in-cuteness smile. I find Him in the simple trust my son has in me to feed him, care for me, catch him, and hold him. And I praise God for being the everlasting and loving Father that He is.

Take a moment and stop. Breathe. Look around. Where do you find Him?
